Content Creator [Hybrid]

We're looking for a Chinese-speaking content creator who shoots like a director, edits like a craftsman and thinks like a marketer.

You've had ideas die in someone else's hands. We don't want that to happen here.

As our In-House Content Creator, you'll own the full creative chain — from concept to camera to final cut to publish — for LadyBossFoodie and Auntie Chia. You'll plan the shoot, frame the shot, direct the talent, then sit down and edit your own footage into short-form videos that stop the scroll, move the heart and convert the click.

This is the role for someone who refuses to be just a videographer or just an editor — because the magic happens when one mind carries the story from the first frame to the final cut. When you shoot knowing how you'll edit, and edit knowing what you captured, the output is sharper, faster and unmistakably yours.

You'll work in tight loops with our content strategist and founders. You'll experiment relentlessly with AI tools. And you'll set the pace and the quality bar for everything we publish.

If you've ever felt frustrated handing off your footage to someone who "doesn't get it" — this role exists so you never have to do that again.

Two Profiles We're Open To

We're hiring for one of two archetypes. Apply if you're clearly one of them:

Profile A — The AI-Native Creator

You're early in your career but you live and breathe end-to-end content.

You shoot on whatever's in your hand (iPhone, Sony, Lumix — doesn't matter, you make it look cinematic). You've already replaced 80% of your old editing process with CapCut AI, Runway, ElevenLabs, Descript, Topaz, ChatGPT for scripting, Midjourney/Nano Banana/GPT Image 2.0 for thumbnails — whatever ships faster, better, cheaper. Volume doesn't scare you. Ambiguity doesn't paralyze you. You ship to learn.

Profile B — The Experienced Best-Practice PIC

You've spent 3+ years shooting and editing short-form content that performed.

You arrive with a system, a hook library, a pacing instinct, a lighting setup that works in any kitchen, and strong opinions on what makes a Reel work. You're open to AI but you don't need it to know what good looks like. You can lead the full content function, mentor others and raise our standard immediately.

If you're neither — please don't apply. We're not looking for a pure videographer who hates editing, or a pure editor who's never held a camera.

Areas of Responsibility:

1. Video Production & Shooting 30%)

  • Plan and execute video shoots for short-form content
  • Set up lighting, camera angles and shooting environment
  • Capture product shots, lifestyle scenes, kitchen scenes and talent performances
  • Direct on-camera talent (including occasionally being on camera yourself)
  • Run efficient batch filming sessions — multiple videos per shoot day
  • Make on-set creative calls in real time, knowing how you'll cut it later

2. Video Editing & Storytelling (35%)

  • Edit 8–12 short-form videos per week across LBF + Auntie Chia (Reels, Shorts)
  • Translate raw footage into emotionally resonant stories that connect with caregivers, families and Chinese-Malaysian food lovers
  • Craft hooks within the first 1.5 seconds — and prove it with watch-time data
  • Build pacing, sound design, captions, transitions and effects that feel native to each platform
  • Maintain bilingual EN/CN caption and copy consistency
  • Own the final cut. Defend your choices. Iterate when the data says otherwise.

3. Content Strategy & AI-Powered Workflow (25%)

  • Reverse-engineer winning videos (ours and competitors') into repeatable formulas
  • Propose new content angles, hook structures, formats and series
  • Use AI tools to compress production + editing time without compromising craft
  • Test and adopt new tools as they emerge — document what works for the team
  • Build prompt libraries, asset templates and automation flows that scale our output
  • Push back when a concept won't perform — and offer a better one

3. Production Coordination & Quality Standards (10%)

  • Work with designer on overlays, thumbnails and visual identity
  • Phase out underperforming outsourced editors as your in-house workflow matures
  • Maintain asset libraries, version control and a clean handoff system
  • Brief and direct external talent or freelancers when needed

Requirements

  • MUST understand Chinese (90% of our customers are chinese speaking)
  • Portfolio required — show us 8+ short-form videos you personally shot AND edited, with platform metrics if available
  • Working knowledge of camera, lighting, framing and composition for short-form vertical
  • Comfort directing people on camera (and occasionally appearing on camera yourself)
  • For Profile A: demonstrable AI workflow across both production and post (show us your tools, your prompts, your outputs)
  • For Profile B: 3+ years end-to-end short-form experience in food, lifestyle, e-commerce or consumer brands
  • Native-level intuition for Reels / TikTok / Shorts pacing, hook structure and platform behavior
  • Comfort with feedback loops — including direct, honest critique on your work
  • Ownership mindset: you ship, you measure, you improve

Ideal T-Shape Indicators (Highly Valued):

  • Experience in food, F&B or consumer packaged goods content
  • Understanding of Chinese-Malaysian cultural context — festivals, family dynamics, caregiver emotion, food nostalgia
  • Track record of producing a video that hit 100K+ organic views (and ability to explain why it worked)
  • Experience shooting and editing for paid social — knowing the difference between organic storytelling and ad-driven storytelling
  • Comfort directing AI tools the way a director directs a DP
  • Confidence in front of the camera, not just behind it
  • Strong attention to detail in lighting, sound and composition

How We Hire:

  • Portfolio review — your work speaks first (we want to see footage you shot AND edited)
  • Cultural fit form — short Google Form covering how you operate, give and receive feedback, and handle ambiguity
  • MBTI submission — share your 16Personalities result (including the -A or -T variant). We use it as a cultural-fit data point, not a gate
  • Interview with the team + paid trial
  • Decision

Benefit Package:

  • Hybrid remote ( 4 days in office, 1 day WFH)
  • EPF, SOCSO, EIS Contribution
  • Annual Increment
  • Performance bonus tied to content impact (not seat-time)
  • Annual leave, medical leave, compassionate leave
  • Full access to AI tool stack (we pay for licenses)
  • Production gear access (camera, lighting, audio, gimbal)

A Challenging Industry  Where You Truly Grow

We are in a omni-channel industry where market is fast, volatile and unforgiving. Campaigns fail, algorithm change, targets move. We don't complain, we adjust.

We don’t see challenges as pressure. We see them as growth opportunities. If you want a place to stretch your thinking, solve real problems, and grow through experience, you’ll feel at home here.

Growth doesn’t happen in comfort. It happens when you choose to step up.

Professional Team Built On Standards & Support

We are not a “family business.” We are a team of capable people and professionals who care deeply about our work.

We believe in [Ownership over excuses], [Honest feedback over silent harmony], [Efficiency over drama], [Raising standards together]

You won’t be micromanaged. You will be trusted with context and supported to deliver your best. We push each other to grow, but we also lift each other up.

Growth Is Earned Through Impact
In here career growth isn’t about how long you stay. It’s about how much impact you create.

If your work speaks for itself, if you think proactively, if you care about outcomes:

You’ll grow faster than you expect.

We believe capable people shouldn’t be boxed in. You’ll have space to lead when you’re ready.

A Chapter of Acceleration

We don't promise forever, but we promise growth. Your time here should stretch you, sharpen you and level you up. When you grow = we grow, when you're ready for your next arena, we'll celebrate it.

You’ll Thrive Here If You:

  • Want to own ideas from camera to cut — and refuse to hand off the parts you care about
  • Prefer autonomy over hand-holding — we give context, you decide the shot AND the edit
  • Take honest feedback as fuel, not as a personal attack
  • Get energized when you're told "this isn't good enough yet" — not deflated
  • Move fast without spiraling when things go sideways
  • Care about outcomes more than process
  • Treat content as craft + science — feel + data
  • Want to be surrounded by capable, driven teammates who raise your bar
