当初做RESEARCH看到吃货老板娘里的RTE菜单有梅菜扣肉，我马上PROPOSE给我的山友们说就带梅菜扣肉去吧。现在已经去了回来，味道真的很棒，所以当人家再问我：“爬山还可以吃到梅菜扣肉？” 我会说：“真的，而且还很好吃！”

A bit too salty
Hi, the steamed pork belly with preserved vegetable is too oily and sticky. Even though just boiled the packet and open hot, it become slimy very fast bcos of the oil. Hope it can be improved.
I hv not taste the other 3 varieties in the mid-autumn gift box yet.
This is the first time I bought from you the room temperature packaging. Previously I bought from USJ submit outlet are frozen packaging and I think the frozen curry chicken and dried bak-kut-teh are very nice and superb.

Thank you for your feedback. I wanted to let you know that we often receive feedback like this for products that uses pork belly (Teochew Braised Pork Belly / Mui Choy Kau Yoke etc), be it frozen or retort.
As we use pork belly to prepare, we actually drain the oil before we vacuum pack for retort, retort sterilization works by cooking the food at 121 degrees in a vacuum sealed packet, so all the harmful bacterias are sterilized, it is also the reason why we are confident it can last up to 12 months.
The reason why it is oily, is that we can't drain the oil after retort (opening the packet would result in touching new source of bacteria from air), so in contrary to how restaurants operate (like draining it before packaging), we can't do that.
To make matters worse, customer would need to reheat another round before meal, which makes it appear much more oily than your regular Mui Choy Kau Yoke.
The only way to improve this is to not use pork belly, but other parts with more lean meat which would compromise on the texture.
I hope that explains why it is oily, and also to assure you that it is healthy pork fats.

Dish is oily, the vegetable looks rough, should cut smaller size, the Preserved Vege, do not have MUI CHOI taste, it taste like rotten vege
